A huge blow to the ruling party BJD in Orissa as the seven time MLA and a BJD strongman Pradeep Maharathy died due to COVID 19. He was 65 years old at the time of his death and he tested positive for COVID 19 on 14th September 2020. Pradeep Maharathy was in hospital for more than two weeks and suddenly needed ventilator support from Friday 2nd October 2020. He finally breathed his last at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Pradeep Maharathy is with BJD for more than 2 decades and have served as Agriculture Minister. During his term as Agriculture Minister Odisha won Kristi Karman Award for four consecutive years. He was born on 4th July 1965 in Pipili of Puri district. Maharathy is survived by his wife a son and a daughter. His wife’s name is Pativa Maharathy, son name is Rudra Pratap Maharathy and daughter’s name is Pallavi Maharathy.
Pradeep Maharathy Janata Dal in 1985 and even successfully won election contesting for them in 1985 and 1990 election. Later at the year 2000 he joined BJD. His party is mourning for his huge loss.
