After months of speculations, it is now clear that indeed an Apple iPhone SE 2 is in the making as per a report by tipster Ming-Chi Kuo dating back to March this year as well as the latest report that gives insights into the upcoming device and a string of other products that Cupertino-based tech giant is working on.
According to Kuo, Apple is working on iPhone SE 2 along with updated iPad Pro models that will have 3D ToF sensors that will take advantage of AR capabilities and are estimated to arrive by the first quarter of 2020.
The report states that iPhone SE 2 will arrive in the first quarter of 2020 which is between January and March. A Nikkei report stated that it’s based on the 2017 iPhone 8 and will have a 4.7-inch LCD along with the powerful A13 Bionic chipset that you would find on 2019 iPhones. There are tonnes of renders available on the internet although there isn’t a confirm final design render available at this moment.
Apart from that, Apple will integrate a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor in its new iPad Pro models arriving during the first quarter of next year as well. These models will have applications for augmented reality thanks to the ToF sensor which is an upgraded version of the TrueDepth sensor that Apple has been using for years.
Apple is also working on an AR headset that will have its screen but will use the GPU, CPU, and network connection of an iPhone connected to it to provide a lens into the augmented reality which is something the Cupertino-based company has been working on for quite a long time.
This will be followed by an upgraded MacBook Pro lineup that will sport scissor-switch keyboard design that will populate on its laptops in 2020 thereby squashing the old and maligned annoying butterfly mechanism keyboard design that has made customers made for months now.
Finally, there will be a 5G-enabled iPhone 2020 estimated to arrive in Q3 2020 which is between July and September which goes in line with previous announcements by Apple.
